1 The various phases of mosaic execution
The Ravenna double reverse method,
The direct method
The lime as temporary binder.

Selection of the project for the mosaic and execution of a copy for
the tracing : practice of cutting marble and preparing “tesserae”.

2 Preparation of the lime bed, “printing” of the tracing, cutting
and setting of the tesserae.
3 Execution of the mosaic on the lime bed.
Gluing of the temporary canvas onto the mosaic surface.
4 Execution of a small “modern mosaic” using the direct method
with cement as a binder.
Lifting the ancient mosaic and transfer onto a permanent binder,
5 Completion of the modern mosaic (if needed)
Final phases of mosaic, execution, removal of the canvas, surface cleaning, brushing, frame painting etc.
Visit of local museum and mosaic sculptures.
